Free Workshop at UH Hilo: Dealing with Anger
Ku‘ikahi Mediation Center invites the public to participate in a free workshop, “Dealing with Anger: Steps to Understanding and Transformation.” In honor of International Conflict Resolution Day, the event will be held on Friday, Oct. 20, from 5 to 7 p.m. at the University of Hawai‘i at Hilo’s Campus Center room 301.
The interactive workshop will be presented by Mala‘e Erickson, a practitioner of Marshall Rosenberg’s nonviolent communication methods for nearly two decades. Participants will explore steps to understanding and expressing anger using compassionate communication techniques.
“You can transform anger from blaming others to connecting with what is important to you,” said Erickson. “Although it can be one of the most painful emotions, anger serves an important purpose, and we can use it to serve life.”
A reception with pūpū will begin at 4:45 p.m. Steve Yoshida and Lee Dombroski on “Heiwa: Rotary Hiroshima Survivor Trees,” will open the evening with a message of peace, hope and perseverance.
On-campus parking for the event will be free of charge after 4 p.m.
This event is the second in the “Kakou: Let’s Work It Out!” workshop series, co-hosted by the County of Hawai‘i Office of the Prosecuting Attorney, Ku‘ikahi Mediation Center, several Rotary Clubs and UH-Hilo.
