The Donkey Mill Art Center (DMAC) and the Kona Coffee Cultural Festival (KCCF) are seeking entries to the 2017 Kona Coffee Cultural Festival exhibition and juried art show.
Amateur and professional artists of all ages are invited to submit works of art celebrating KCCF’s 47th Anniversary illustrating the heritage of Kona coffee through this year’s theme, A Sip of Aloha.
Artists of all ages, mediums and abilities are invited to submit their original works interpreting Kona’s coffee culture. Art must be on the theme of coffee, either by subject matter or medium. Express your love of coffee, your understanding of Kona Coffee heritage, use coffee in your artwork or tell a story about coffee cultural heritage through art.

All visual art media are eligible including paintings, drawings, sculpture, carving, assemblage, fiber, ceramics, jewelry and video. Only original art and handcrafted pieces will be considered so reproductions will not be accepted unless they are photographs or limited editions of hand-pulled prints.
The work must have been made in the last year and be ready for hanging or installation, including an attached wire for framed pieces. Matted work without frames will not be accepted. Artwork must be submitted with an Entry Form which can be obtained online accompanied by the entry fees of $10 per submission. The submission deadline and delivery of artwork to Donkey Mill is Saturday, Oct. 14, between 10:00 a.m. and 6:00 p.m.
Two jurors will award cash prizes for the top three pieces. The prizes will be awarded based on use of media, quality of the work and presentation of the theme. In addition, a People’s Choice Award will be given at the end of the exhibit, based on votes received.

This year’s jurors are internationally-known ceramic artist and educator Kate Jacobson and Donkey Mill’s Core Program Director and metalsmith Kristin Mitsu Shiga.
“Our open-air studio is surrounded by coffee farms so I have deep respect for the hard work and seasonal rhythms of Kona coffee culture. I am honored to help jury this exhibition,” said Kate Jacobson.
