Social Media Branding Workshop Offered Sept. 26 in Hilo

Hawai‘i Island business owners looking to improve and grow their social media presence are invited to attend a workshop on “Creating Your Social Media Brand” on Sept. 26 in Hilo. The class will be held from 10 a.m. to noon at the Hawai‘i Innovation Center at Hilo (HICH) located at 117 Kiawe Street.

Led by instructor Denise Laitinen, the class will cover successful brand management online, key elements for creating and building a social media presence across multiple platforms, as well as the most effective approaches for using various social media outlets according to their unique characteristics. The class will also explore successful businesses that have grown and expanded their reach through social media.

Laitinen, owner of DLC Hawai‘i Media, is an experienced public speaker, educator and writer. She has taught dozens of social media classes throughout Hawai‘i at the university level and for corporate clients.

The Sept. 26 class is the first in a series, with two additional workshops held in October. “Introduction to Blogging” will be offered on Oct. 10, as well as “Dashboard Management,” a class on how to streamline social media outreach, on Oct. 26. The October classes will also be held at HICH from 10 a.m. to noon.

The workshop fee is $35 and the deadline to register for the social media branding class is Monday, Sept. 25. Business owners may register online.
