The Walk to End Alzheimer’s is the signature event for the Alzheimer’s Association, bringing together hundreds of thousands of family, friends, caregivers and concerned community members, each willing to make a difference for families coping with Alzheimer’s disease and related disorders.

Walkers across the country will carry different colored flowers signifying their connections to Alzheimer’s disease.

The Aloha Chapter will host five walks throughout the state, in Hilo, Kona, Kahului, Honolulu and Līhue.

The Alzheimer’s Association Walk to End Alzheimer’s will be held in Kona on Saturday, Oct. 7, at the Old Kona Airport.

“Flowers are for anniversaries, proms, well wishes and saying I love you,” said the Alzheimer’s Association. “But flowers become even more beautiful when they’re carried by people who are committed to ending Alzheimer’s—a disease that currently has no cure. And we walk so that one day there will be a white flower for Alzheimer’s first survivor.”

Funds raised during the  Walk to End Alzheimer’s will provide care and support for all those affected, and advances research toward a cure.

Registration opens at 7a.m.; the opening ceremony starts at 7:45 a.m.
