The eighth annual Waimea Ocean Film Festival returns to Hawai‘i Island on January 1 to 9, 2018, in Waimea and several local resorts.

Tickets are available for purchase online at www.waimeaoceanfilm.org. Extra early purchase price rates will be available beginning July 30, 2017.

The Waimea Ocean Film Festival will feature over 60 films exploring the ocean experience, marine environment and island culture, retelling inspiring stories and adventures. Viewers will be immersed in a visual journey of surf, marine life, international expeditions and ocean action.

In addition to the full lineup of films, the festival will feature interactive presentations, exhibits and Breakfast Talks, as well as ocean-based activities. Breakfast Talks will provide a venue for guests to connect with filmmakers and learn more about how the films came to life.

“Breakfast Talks provide a unique and special opportunity to connect with festival special guests and hear behind-the-scenes stories,” says Tania Howard, Ocean Film founder and executive director. “Along with filmmaker Q&As and special presentations, they form perhaps my favorite part of the event.”

Films and programs will happen on Monday, Jan. 1, 2018, to Thursday, Jan. 4, 2018, at venues in Waimea, the Mauna Kea Beach Hotel, Hapuna Prince Beach Hotel and The Fairmont Orchid. On Friday, Jan. 5, 2018, to Tuesday, Jan. 9, 2018, to Four Seasons Resort Hualalai will continue hosting the festival. Films at Four Seasons will be shown outdoors this year at the resort’s Hoku Amphitheatre. Waimea venues will include Kahilu Theatre, Hawai‘i Preparatory Academy (HPA), Parker School Theatre and Anna Ranch.

The 2018 festival program will be completed and posted online around December 20 for download.
