Ali‘i Drive Culvert Replacement Project. Hawai‘i County Department of Public Works map.

A public meeting on the Draft Environmental Assessment for the Ali‘i Drive Culvert Replacement Project will be held on Monday, May 1, 2017,  at the West Hawai‘i Civic Center’s Community Meeting Hale (Bldg. G), 74-5044 Ane Keohokālole Highway, from 5 to 6:30 p.m.

Meeting Agenda

  • Allow individuals to comment, ask questions and discuss concerns regarding the Draft Environmental Assessment.
  • Discuss the county’s plans to replace the double-cell culvert bridging the Waiaha Drainageway on Ali‘i Drive, adjacent to the Kona Tiki Hotel.
  • Present the project’s description, history and scope of work to construct a new bridge structure that has a wider stream flow opening, a longer span and wider lane bridge above.

A Draft Environmental Assessment was released on April 8, 2017, and can be obtained and viewed by selecting the April 8, 2017, edition of the Office of Environmental Quality Control (OEQC) Environmental Notice.

Comments on the project and its Draft Environmental Assessment are due on May 7, 2017.
