UPDATE 2: Bail Set at $100,000 for Attempted Murder Suspect

UPDATE 2: April 10,  2017

Detectives with the Area II Juvenile Aid Section charged Dwight Antonio Rivera with Attempted Murder in the First Degree on Saturday, April 8, 2017, at 12:45 p.m.

UPDATE 1: April 6, 2017,  7:53 p.m.

Dwight Rivera, the suspect wanted in connection with an attempted murder investigation, turned himself at the North Kohala Police Station without incident on April 6 at 2:10 p.m.

Rivera was subsequently arrested for Attempted Murder in the 1st Degree. The suspect vehicle has been recovered, and detectives from the Area II Juvenile Aid Section are continuing the investigation.

Hawai’i Island Police are searching for a man wanted in connection with an attempted murder investigation which occurred in North Kohala on Thursday morning, April 6.

Shortly after 1 a.m., on April 6, HPD officers responded to the intersection of Highway 250 and Kynnersley Road in Kohala, after receiving a report of an active domestic dispute.

Upon arrival, officers observed a heavily damaged brown Toyota pickup truck with two occupants. It was determined that the truck had been rammed repeatedly by another vehicle, operated by the suspect, 32-year-old Dwight Antonio Rivera, of North Kohala.

One of the two occupants of the Toyota pickup, a 31-year-old North Kohala woman, received minor injuries and was taken to the North Hawaiʻi Community Hospital for treatment. She was later released.

The other Toyota occupant, a 36-year-old Kamuela man, did not report any injuries.

The suspect in this case, Rivera, described as Filipino, 5-foot-4, 120 pounds, with brown eyes and black hair. The vehicle he used during this incident was a red Dodge pickup truck.
