Volcano Art Center (VAC) will host a special presentation by Hawaiʻi Wildlife Center (HWC) discussing wildlife and their new science and discovery center on Thursday, April 6, from 7 to 9 p.m. This free presentation will take place at the VAC’s Niaulani Campus.

Michelle Reynolds will talk about the Laysan Duck translocation project that partners with HWC, and Samantha Christie, Wildlife Rehabilitation Manager, will share the latest updates on wildlife patients at the hospital.

HWC will be selling logo shirts and plush Laysan Albatross chicks with cardboard carriers as “symbolic adoptions” to help raise funds for the wildlife hospital and science center.

There will be a special tour of HWC during the following week of April 13, where participants will meet at VAC’s Niaulani Campus at 9 a.m. and carpool to the wildlife center. Transportation will be provided, but space is limited. Preregistration is required and the cost is $20. Call VAC at (808) 967-8222 to make a reservation.

The April 6 presentation is part of VAC’s once-a-month Thursday night series, focusing on art, Hawaiian culture and environment. The series intends to inspire and enhance the community’s appreciation of art and life experience, while forging new connections between people. Presentations are free and donations are welcome.

VAC’s Niaulani Campus is located at 19-4074 Old Volcano Road in Volcano Village.
