Big Island Surf Forecast

Hilo side: Wave heights are forecast to be shoulder high to a couple feet overhead today.

Kona side: Wave heights are expected to be knee/waist/chest high today with the best breaks getting up to waist/chest/head high on the sets.

South: Wave heights are expected to be knee/waist/chest high today with the best breaks getting up to waist/chest/head high on the sets.

A new south-southwest swell is forecast for Thursday through Saturday. The west-northwest could wrap into some southwest exposures as well.

Surf along north and west facing shores remain elevated from the northwest reinforcement through Thursday.

A large west-northwest swell is forecast to begin filling in Thursday night, peak Friday at warning levels before slowly fading over the weekend.

Short period easterly swell could get up to advisory levels along east exposures by the end of the weekend and into early next week.

Keep in mind, surf heights are measured on the face of the wave from trough to crest. Heights vary from beach to beach, and at the same beach, from break to break.
