Words and Wine Event on March 7

Kona Stories Book Store will offer a meet and greet with some of Kona’s outstanding authors during its monthly Words and Wine event on Tuesday, March 7, at 6 p.m., with complimentary pūpū and wine.

This month’s featured authors will be Leslie Karst, Carol Thorsness and George John Douvis. The event will start off with an informal meet and greet merging into a more formal book presentation from each other, concluding around 8 p.m. after a Q&A session. Dress is casual aloha wear. Leslie Karst

Leslie Karst is the daughter of a law professor and potter who learned the value of both careful analysis and the arts through family dinner conversations. Her upbringing now contributes to her talent as a writer of the Sally Solari Mysteries, a culinary series set in Santa Cruz, California. She has dual degree in English literature and the culinary arts and lives between Santa Cruz and Hilo with her wife and their dog. Her novels include Dying for a Taste and A Measure of Murder.

Carol Thorsness

Carol Thorsness is a retired middle school teacher who spends her free time writing, enjoying home projects, playing bridge and spending time with her granddaughters. She lives in Northern California and Kailua-Kona, and her second novel is Big Island ‘Ohana, An Unintended Romance.

George John Douvis

George Douvris is the only son of Greek immigrants and grew up in Raleigh, North Carolina. He was part of the 1960s counterculture movements of the 1960s that brought political and cultural upheavals. His sequel to Crossing Karma Zones shares his family’s quest traveling across the world to find a new homeland, while learning to live in the moment and be citizens of the world.
