Hawai‘i Fire Department personnel responded to a report of a structure fire on Liona Street in Volcano on Wednesday, Jan. 25, 2017.

They arrived at 9:50 a.m. to find an approximately 1,800-square-foot, single-story wooden home actively burning towards the rear of the home.

Gray smoke was forcefully emitting from broken windows and the roof line.

No one was at home at the time of HFD arrival.

The home appeared to have three bedrooms, two bathrooms and a detached garage.

The fire was extinguished at 11:15 a.m.

The back half of the home was charred and had heavy fire damage. The remaining interior had heavy smoke and heat damage.  A late model Nissan pickup was also damaged in the fire.

Losses were estimated at $180,000; $92,000 worth of property was saved.

The cause of the fire is under investigation by HFD inspectors and Hawai‘i Police Department officers.

There were no victims or injuries to civilians or HFD personnel.
