Ku‘ikahi Mediation Center will offer “Conflict Resolution: Reframing Problems in Order to Find Solutions,” a workshop with Kimberly Dark, on Saturday, Jan. 14, 2017, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.

The workshop will be held at Hawaiʻi Community College, Building 288, Room 103, 200 W. Kawili St., in Hilo.

This half-day workshop will focus on understanding and practicing the skill of reframing contentious, position-based statements into neutral language that helps everyone think more clearly and develop possible solutions.

“We’ll begin by examining the causes of conflict and how language can help individuals avoid conflict in a variety of settings,” said Dark. “Then we’ll focus on turning complaints into issues—the skill of reframing and paraphrasing.”

These skills can be used at home as well as in the workplace, schools, associations, meetings and more.

The cost is $50; pre-registration is required. Group discounts and partial scholarships are available.
