No Tsunami Threat to Hawai‘i After 6.2 Magnitude Indonesian Quake

No current tsunami watches, warnings or advisories are in effect for Hawai‘i after a 6.2-magniture earthquake was reported 21 miles from Tolotangga in the Sumbawa Region of Indonesia at 11:30 HST on Thursday, Dec. 29.

However, a tsunami warning has been issued near Tolotangga, but it is unknown if a tsunami actually did or will exist.

Indonesia has a population of approximately 242,968,000.

Bima has a population of approximately 67,000.
