The Hawai’i Loa Chapter of the National Society Daughters of the American Revolution will honor three individuals and two organizations from the Hamakua and Kohala Districts on Saturday, July 16, 2016, at the Kahilu Town Hall located at 67-1182 Lindsey Road in Kamuela.
Renowned author Dr. Billy Bergin will be presented the NSDAR Historical Preservation Medal for his work in preserving the history of Parker Ranch and the Hawaiian paniolo.
Subsequently, the following two individuals and two nonprofit organizations will receive the NSDAR Historical Preservation Awards for their efforts in preserving the histories of Hawaiian ranching, the sugar cane industry, and the World War II training camp of Camp Tarawa.

Four highly regarded individuals and organizations will be presented with the NSDAR Historic Preservation Recognition Award for their efforts in preserving cultural and historical aspects of the local region:
Momi Naughton, Ph.D., of The Heritage Center at The North Hawai’i Education and Research Center (NHERC) in Honoka‘a,
Kathy Painton of The Camp Tarawa Foundation,
The Paniolo Preservation Society and the Paniolo Heritage Center at Pukalani Stables
The Anna Lindsey Perry-Fiske Charitable Trust and the Anna Ranch Heritage Center.
Preceding the meeting, a reception will be held for the honored recipients between 10 and 10:30 a.m.
The chapter meeting and award presentations will follow at 10:30 a.m.

A luncheon will be hosted immediately following the meeting at 12:30 p.m.
