Kenoi Pleads Not Guilty at Arraignment Hearing

Hawai’i County Mayor Billy Kenoi has plead not guilty to charges stemming from his use of a County of Hawai’i-issued purchasing card between 2011 and 2015.

Todd Eddins, the attorney representing Kenoi, told Big Island Now on Tuesday that Kenoi would not plead guilty to any of the allegations against him.

Kenoi’s plea covers eight criminal counts, including two counts of second-degree theft, two counts of third-degree theft, three counts of tampering with government records, and one count of false swearing.

A trial date is scheduled for July 18.
