Kapoho Man Arrested in Puna Murder

badge 123The Hawai’i Police Department is investigating a fatal shooting that occurred late Monday afternoon.

According to authorities, officers responding to a 5:14 p.m. call reporting a shooting in Kapoho Beach Lots subdivision located a male victim.

Police arrested a 72-year-old Kopoho man, identified as Richard R. Edwards, at the scene on suspicion of second-degree murder.

Edwards is being held at the Hilo police cellblock as the Area I Criminal Investigations Section continues to investigate the incident.

The victim has not been positively identified.

An autopsy has been order to determine the victim’s exact cause of death.
