Moku Ka Piko Ceremony to Honor Hawai’i CC Pālamanui
The new campus of Hawai’i Community College – Pālamanui will be blessed and dedicated during a Moku Ka Piko ceremony, one day ahead of the college’s Open House and Grand Opening ceremony, slated for Saturday.
Friday’s ceremony will acknowledge Hawai’i CC – Pālamanui as “the home of lifelong learners and leaders in West Hawai’i.”
The ceremony will begin at 3:30 p.m. and various speakers will lead throughout the program, including Governor David Ige, President of the University of Hawai’i Dr. David Lassner, UH Vice President for Community Colleges Dr. John Morton, Hawai’i CC Interim Chancellor Joni Onishi, Hawai’i CC Pālamanui and UH Center West Hawai’i Director Dr. Marty Fletcher, and Ku`ulei Keākealani, lineal descendant of Kekahawai`oleonākona.
Hawai’i CC Pālamanui is a branch campus of Hawai‘i Community College and part of the University of Hawai‘i system. The college opened its doors to students in August 2015.
Located in North Kona, mauka of the Kona International Airport, the college offers certificates and associate degrees from Hawai’i Community College.
