Yelp’s Top 100 Places to Eat in 2016 Includes Two Big Island Restaurants

Two Big Island restaurants were recently named among 10 in the state to receive recognition on the online review website Yelp’s Top 100 Places to Eat in the U.S. for 2016.

Da Poke Shack and Umeke’s, both in Kailua-Kona, were included at spot number 15 and 89, respectively.

Yelp compiled the list after analyzing which places were the “all-time most popular” and well-reviewed on its website. Rankings looked at ratings of the restaurant and the number of reviews accounting for quality, popularity, and statistical fluctuations. Yelp localized the list by using reviews only from users whose profiles were listed within the restaurant’s county.

The state took over 10 percent of the list, with 10 restaurants listed in the top 100.
