On January 26, 2016 we tied a heat record at the Hilo International Airport.

At 1:46 p.m. we reached a temperature of 86° which ties the old record set in 1977.

This is 7 degrees warmer than normal.

As other states break snowfall records, here on the Big Island we’ve broken a heat record.

On January 25, 2016 we set a record in Hilo with a temperature of 88° at 1:26 p.m.

This breaks the old record of 87° set in 1977 and is 9 degrees warmer than normal.
