The Four Seasons Resort Hualalai at Historic Kaupulehu has held onto its AAA Five Diamond Star statues for 2016.

AAA recently released its 2016 list of Five Diamond rated hotels. The list includes three Hawai’i resorts that have retained their spot.

A total of 118 hotels have received a Five Diamond rating. Those locations are among the top 0.4 percent of almost 28,000 AAA/CAA approved and Diamond Rated hotels.

The Four Seasons Resort Hualalai was initially named to the list in 1998.

AAA added six new hotels to the Five Diamond list, including the Hotel Mousai in Puerto Vallarta, Mexico; the Park Hyatt New York; the St. Regis Deer Valley in Park City, Utah; The Cloister in Sea Island, Ga.; The Ritz-Carlton, Dove Mountain in Marana, Ari.; and the Trump International Hotel and Tower Toronto in Ontario.

Five Diamond honorees are chosen following a rigorous evaluation from professional AAA inspectors.

The Ritz-Carlton, Kapalua and the Four Seasons Resort Maui at Wailea were also kept on the list.
