Hurricane Olaf is slowly moving to the northwest northwest as it remains far southeast of Hawai’i.
As of 5 a.m., Hurricane Olaf was located about 720 miles southeast of Hilo. The storm was circulating winds of about 115 miles per hour, holding category three hurricane status.
The Central Pacific Hurricane Center reports that Hurricane Olaf is moving towards the northwest at seven mph.

According to forecasters, Hurricane Olaf is expected to continue through Thursday in its general motion before taking a gradual turn towards the north-northwest Thursday night and move slowly towards the north Friday.
Hurricane Olaf is not expected to change in intensity Thursday, but will gradually weaken overnight and into Friday.
High surf is being brought in by swells generated by Hurricane Olaf. CPHC officials say that life threatening and potentially damaging surf will impact east-facing shores into the weekend. A high surf warning is currently posted for those shores until 6 p.m. Saturday.
