A Small Craft Advisory is posted for all the ʻAlenuihāhā channel as well as waters to the west and south of the Big Island through noon Saturday for winds up to 25 knots and rough seas up to 11 feet. Inexperienced mariners should avoid navigating in these conditions.

We expect high temperatures from 84° to 89°. East winds are expected around 15 mph. Partly to mostly cloudy skies are forecasted with showers likely in windward spots. Leeward spots are expected to get showers mainly in the afternoon and evening. A slight chance of thunderstorms also exists during that time. On Sunday the threat for afternoon thunderstorms goes down with only scattered afternoon showers expected.

East winds are forecasted around 15 mph. Mostly cloudy skies and showers are expected in windward spots. Leeward areas should gradually clear as the night goes on.  Low temperatures from 73° to 78° are expected.

 

Looking Ahead

Passing showers over windward and mauka areas can be expected this weekend. Trade winds will remain at moderate levels through Saturday. Winds will become lighter early next week. Moisture associated with the trough may also cause an increase in shower activity over some areas.
