Inflationary tilt began at the summit of Kilauea following slight fluctuations on Wednesday and deflationary tilt the previous day.
Hawaiian Volcano Observatory reports that the titlmeter data is consistent with the inflation phase of a Deflation/Inflation event.
Within the Overlook crater, the lava lake has shown a steady rise. The rise is consistent with the inflationary tilt currently happening. Spattering also continues.
Background levels of seismicity continue below Kilauea’s summit at the Puʻu ʻŌʻō vent.

Tiltmeters at Puʻu ʻŌʻō have not shown any change in recent weeks. Several incandescent, outgassing vents within the crater remain.
The small lava flow reported by HVO on Wednesday reemerged at the same location at 3:30 p.m. and again at 6:20 p.m. The flow was confined to the Puʻu ʻŌʻō crater and HVO reports that the duration of the flow was brief.
Observation of the June 27 lava flow continues to be monitored through webcam and satellite imagery. The images provide HVO geologists with evidence that breakouts remain scattered in an area 2.5 to 5 miles to the northeast of Puʻu ʻŌʻō.
