Laupahoehoe Fire Causes $250K in Damage

A single-story three bedroom home along Hawai’i Belt Road in the Laupahoehoe area burned Saturday evening.

Hawai’i County Fire Department personnel reports that just before 8 p.m., they received notice that the home was burning.

Upon arrival, the home was found fully engulfed. No occupants were in the structure at the time.

A crew of nine firefighters worked to control the fire and had it out by 9:15 p.m.

Damage was estimated to be a loss of $250,000. The cause of the fire was unknown and is currently under investigation.
