Brush Fire Closes Highway 11 in Pahala

A runaway brush fire in the Pahala area of Highway 11, near the 56 mile marker, has been reported by the Hawai’i Police Department and Hawai’i County Civil Defense. Due to the incident, the highway has been closed.

The fire is reportedly near the Pahala intersections of Highway 11 and Ninole Loop.

According to Civil Defense, no homes or property are currently being threatened.

Emergency crews are on the scene and are working to contain and control the fire.

Motorists are being advised to avoid the area and to use alternate routes if they are able to.
