In addition to the temporary Thursday water shut-off along Kalaiana’ole Avenue between Silva Street and 612A Kalaniana’ole Avenue, the Department of Water Supply has announced a water shut-off along Kamehameha Avenue from Pauahi Street to Ponahawai Street in South Hilo, scheduled for the same day.

The Kamehameha Avenue water shut-off will take place between 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. for the purpose of conducting waterline work for the Kamehameha Avenue Reconstruction Project.

Once water resumes, the waterlines will be flushed. Following the flushing, customers may experience turbid or discolored water. Air trapped in plumbing may also be noticed. These issues are temporary and will disburse upon water use.

Customers in the affected areas are advised to take precautions to protect devices that are dependent on water supply or pressure, including electrical pumps.
