Business owners and local community leaders Lucille Chung and Barry Taniguchi will be honored by the YWCA of Hawaii Island as the 2015 Remarkable People.

“The YWCA is proud to recognize Barry and Lucille for their extraordinary accomplishments in business and throughout the community,” said Kathleen McGilvray, CEO of YWCA of Hawaii Island. “These remarkable individuals have devoted significant time and energy to transform the lives of those around them and make our community a more dynamic place to live and work.”

Chung has worked to preserve her home town of Laupahoehoe.  She continued her efforts in social service through community building even while employed with Queen Liliuokalani Children’s Center.  Taniguchi, chairman of the board at KTA Super Stores, has supported business and community groups locally and statewide with his leadership.

A luncheon honoring the two will be held Thursday, April 23, from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. at the Hilo Hawaiian Hotel, Moku Ola Room.  Tickets are limited and sponsorship opportunities are available.
