A request from the State of Hawai’i to amend the existing Public Assistance Program for the State, County, and certain private, non-profit entities with eligible costs from the June 27 lava flow was approved Wednesday by the Federal Emergency Management Agency.
The amendment to the original disaster declaration by President Obama on Nov. 3, 2014 adds both debris management and permanent work to repair infrastructure as categories of eligible work.
According to Title 44 of the Code of Federal Regulations, Section 206.202, agencies eligible must submit their requests for assistance through the state within 30 calendar days from the date of the amendment.
Those entities, including state, county and certain private, non-profit groups who have incurred damages or have debris from the current lava flow, should submit an application through the Hawai’i Emergency Management Agency, previously known as State Civil Defense.
