Siren Test Scheduled for Dec. 2
The next test of the statewide outdoor warning system will be conducted on Tuesday, Dec. 2 at 11:45 a.m.
The exercise, which occurs at the beginning of each month, is done in conjunction with the live broadcast of the Emergency Alert System, which airs at 11:45 a.m.
Normally, the test happens on the first working day of each month. A release from the State Department of Defense, Civil Defense Division says that the test was moved to Tuesday to “avoid conflicts with inauguration activities statewide.”
While the Emergency Alert System broadcast airs on all radio and television stations, emergency sirens across the island will sound a steady one minute tone. During times of emergency, these tones will sound, directing residents to tune to a local radio or television station to receive emergency information.
