Fire inspectors are trying to determine the cause of a fire that destroyed a woodworking shop in an upper Puna subdivision.

Firefighters from the Keaau Fire Station responding at 8:11 a.m. Monday to the blaze on Hibiscus Street in Fern Acres found a 440-square-foot structure fully in flames.

They were able to keep the fire from spreading to an adjacent house.

Damage was estimated at $200,000. The home that was saved was valued at $300,000.
