Student ‘Ukulele Festival Set for March 2

More than 120 students from four schools from Hawai‘i Island will perform in the 26th Annual ‘Ukulele Festival on Saturday, March 2, 2019.

The festival begins at 7 p.m. at Gates Performing Arts Center, located on Hawai‘i Preparatory Academy’s Upper Campus in Waimea.

This year’s festival, themed “Be Our Guest,” will feature music from popular Disney movies.

Students from Kealakehe Intermediate School, Waikoloa Elementary & Middle School, Parker
Middle School, and Hawai‘i Preparatory Academy’s will delight the audience with such hits as
Reflection (Mulan), Hawaiian Roller Coaster Ride (Lilo and Stitch), Be Our Guest (Beauty and
the Beast), Colors of the Wind (Pocahontas), You Got A Friend In Me (Toy Story), Remember
Me (Coco), Bare Necessities (Jungle Book), Just Can’t Wait to Be King (Lion King) and
We Know the Way (Moana).

Students will be under the musical direction of Gloria Juan (Kealakehe Intermediate School),
Lani ʻOpunui (Waikoloa Elementary & Middle School), Sara Lilley (Parker Middle School), and
Dagan Bernstein and Georgia Poláková (Hawai‘i Preparatory Academy).

This event is a free and open to the public.
