‘Circle of Remembrance’ Set for Jan. 16

Special tributes and loving memories honoring family and friends who have died will be shared at Hospice of Kona’s annual Circle of Remembrance. The event is free to the public, and hosted at the Courtyard by Marriott King Kamehameha’s Kona Beach Hotel on Wednesday, Jan. 16, 2019, from 5 to 7 p.m.

This year’s program includes live music, inspirational readings and more. Complimentary heavy pūpū and soft beverages will be available. The program is open to the community but space is limited so please RSVP to Hospice of Kona at (808) 324-7700. Guests are asked to email their loved ones’ name in advance, to [email protected] so it can be read at the ceremony. They should also bring a photo to the event so they can share memories.

“Our Circle grows year-after-year as the community comes out to celebrate and honor the lives of those no longer with us,” said Laura Varney, Hospice of Kona’s chief executive officer. “The Circle is a
warm and gratifying experience that reminds us that all emotions are okay.”

The Circle of Remembrance has provided encouragement and hope to hundreds of local residents and visitors for more than 10 years. What was created as a way to meet a Medicare annual memorial
requirement has grown to signify so much more. It has become an opportunity for friends and family to gather once more to pay respect to those who have passed on, for neighbors to support neighbors,
and for the community to join together to help heal after a loss.

Hospice of Kona provides family-centered support, education and care for those approaching the end
of life. The organization is recognized as the best resource to support and advocate for the terminally
ill and their caregivers and to educate professionals, volunteers and the general public about hospice
care and palliative care.
