The meeting is free and open to the public and will be held from 9 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Public comment will be taken at 11:45 a.m. and 3 p.m. The council meeting will be held at the airport’s Interisland Terminal Conference Room 3, Iliahi.
Council members intend to review and review work plans, address new action items and provide council updates.

The Sanctuary Advisory Council includes members representing the islands of Molokaʻi, Lanaʻi, Kauaʻi, Hawaiʻi, Maui and Oʻahu. The council also includes Native Hawaiian cultural advisors, fishing, business, conservation, science, education and community representatives. Federal and state agency representatives also hold seats on the council.

The marine sanctuary is jointly run by the NOAA’s Office of National Marine Sanctuaries and the State of Hawai‘i’s Department of Land and Natural Resources (DLNR), and works to protect humpback whales through research, education, conservation and stewardship.
