The Hawai‘i Fire Department responded to three swimmers and one kayaker in distress off shore of Onekahakaha Beach Park on Saturday, July 28, 2018.

A strong ebb current was pulling the victims out to sea.

At 2:17 p.m., Chopper One was on scene to find the lifeguard bringing one swimmer in with the rescue board, one swimmer made it to shore on his own. Chopper One deployed a rescue swimmer to assist the other two victims—one swimmer, one kayaker.

Ocean Safety Ski One arrived and the rescue swimmer assisted the swimmer onto the sled while the kayaker was escorted back to shore. No injuries to victims or rescuers.
