Ash Masks Available May 25, 26 at Additional Locations

Ash masks will be distributed on Friday and Saturday, May 25 and 26, 2018, in Pahala, Volcano, Na‘alehu, Hawaiian Ocean View Estates and Kea‘au.

To protect yourself from breathing volcanic ash, free N95 masks will be distributed as follows:

Friday, May 25, from 3:30 to 7:30 p.m.

  • Cooper Center, Volcano
  • Pahala Community Center, Pahala
  • Na‘alehu Community Center, Na‘alehu
  • Hawaiian Ocean View Community Center, HOVE
  • Shipman Gym, Kea‘au

Saturday, May 26, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at all locations and at Pahala Gym Annex, Pahala.

Free masks will be made available to all families including those who picked masks last week.

N95 masks do NOT protect against gases and vapors.

‘Ohana Health Plan donated 12,000 N95 breathing masks to Hawai‘i County and helped distribute them masks at Shipman Gym on Thursday, May 24.

Mahalo, 3M, ‘Ohana Health Plan and HPM Building Supply for the donation of masks, and the Red Cross for distribution support and Community Emergency Response Teams.
