How can you make a positive difference in the lives of your friends, family and co-workers? Join the 2018 Hilo Heart & Stroke Walk.

The walk is taking place along the Hilo Bayfront on Saturday, March 10, 2018, and has already raised over $100,000 of its goal of $160,000.

Residents can still register for the 5k (3 mile) walk online.

Join walkers from across the community as they step out to have fun, get inspired and support a meaningful cause.

Event Schedule

  • Registration opens: 6:30 a.m.
  • Health Fair & Entertainment (Laka Club House): 7 to 11 a.m.
  • Walk begins: 8 a.m.

Start Heartwalking and make the commitment to lead a heart healthy life and become healthy for good. Remember, you are not only raising funds, you are raising heartbeats.

Both lanes of State Highway 19 will be closed along Bayfront from Pauahi Street to Kaipalaoa Landing Lighthouse from 6 to 11 a.m.

Participants that raise $100 are eligible for a Heart Walk shirt. Participants that raise $250 or more will also receive a prize certificate to redeem American Heart Association gear.

How long is the walk?
The Heart Walk is a 3 mile or 1.5 mile non-competitive walk.

Are there any kids activities?
Yes. There will be some keiki activities.

Are dogs allowed?
Yes, leashed dogs are allowed and water bowls will be available for drinking.

Will food be provided?
There will be a food tent for all participants with light refreshments.

Will water be available?
Yes, there are two water stations along the route.

Where are the bathrooms?
Restrooms are located at Bayfront Park.

Is the event handicap accessible?
Yes, the route is handicap accessible.

Are strollers allowed on the path?
Strollers are allowed.

What if it rains on the day of the event?
The Heart Walk will go on rain or shine. In the event of severe weather conditions we will notify participants via the website about the status of the event.
