Big Island residents and visitors will have the opportunity to meet and talk with members of the Hawai‘i Island Police Department today as part of National Coffee with a Cop Day.

Today, Oct. 4, 2017, is National Coffee with a Cop Day, an opportunity to join your neighbors and police officers for coffee and conversation.

Coffee with a Cop provides a unique opportunity for community members to ask questions and learn more about the department’s work in our community.

The mission of “Coffee with a Cop” is to break down barriers between police officers and the citizens
they serve by removing agendas and allowing opportunities to ask questions, voice concerns, and get to know the officers in your neighborhood.

Coffee with a Cop takes place at these locations:

  • Hilo: Starbucks at Prince Kuhio Plaza from 8 a.m. to 10 a.m.
  • Waimea: Starbucks at Parker Ranch from 8 a.m. to 10 a.m.
  • Honoka‘a: TEX Drive-In from 8 a.m. to 10 a.m.
  • Volcano: Eagle’s Lighthouse Café from 8:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m.
  • Kailua-Kona: Kona Coffee and Tea at 74-5588 Palani Road from 7:30 a.m. to 9:30 a.m.
