Sanoe Ka‘uhane, Director of Oncology Services at Kona Community Hospital (KCH) has received the Healthcare Association of Hawai‘i’s (HAH) 2017 Leadership Award.

“We’re thrilled that this award recognizes Sanoe’s accomplishments in the cancer center,” said Chief Nurse, Pat Kalua, RN. “Her innovation and dedication have greatly enhanced the level of oncology services we’re able to offer our patients.”

Ka‘uhane joined KCH in 2013, and has served as Director of Oncology Services since 2015. One of her top priorities upon taking the position was to hire a permanent oncologist and hematologist at KCH, and she launched a year-long recruitment process to find the right person for the job. Sanoe has also focused on standardizing treatment protocols and patient support for the cancer center’s daily clinic operations. She also led the center’s staff to bolster patient care by improving processes for managing patients’ medical, financial and emotional needs.
