30th Annual Richardson Roughwater Swim

The Hawai‘i County Department of Parks and Recreation
will hold the 30th Annual Richardson Roughwater Swim on Sunday, July 30, 2017, at Richardson Ocean Park in Hilo.

Check in will be held between 6:45 and 7:30 a.m. The race will begin at 8 am.

The course is approximately one mile long. Participants will start at the beach (left of the lifeguard stand) and swim out the channel entrance, then to a buoy on the left towards Lalakea for turn-around and continue back on same course rounding the channel buoy on on the right.

This is an event for swimmers with strong skills. There may be waves breaking over an outside reef near the channel entrance and ocean swells with strong current along the coastline.

The registration fee is $40.

Registration forms will be accepted until 7:30 a.m. on race day.

The winners will be awarded prizes.
