With Americans showing off their national pride this Fourth of July with flags, fireworks and other familiar displays of patriotism, some U.S. states appear to be more patriotic than others.

Among the 50 states, Hawaiʻi ranks at the top in several categories indicating patriotic fervor, according to the list of 2017’s Most Patriotic States in America released by WalletHub, a personal finance website.

The Aloha State placed 1st in the country for its population of active-duty military personnel per 1,000 civilian adults, and 1st for civics education requirements. Hawaiʻi ranked 6th in the country for its number of veterans per 1,000 civilian adults and AmeriCorps volunteers per capita. Hawaiʻi also placed 12th on the list for the average number of military enlistees per 1,000 civilian adults, and 25th for Peace Corps volunteers per capita.
