State circuit judge Glenn J. Kim sentenced Andrew Patyjewicz today to 18 months jail and five years probation for disseminating and possessing child pornography, Attorney General Doug Chin announced.

As a condition of probation, in addition to jail, Patyjewicz must also undergo sex offender treatment, register as a sex offender, have no contact with minor children, and pay court fees and costs.
On May 27, 2016, an O‘ahu grand jury indicted Patyjewicz for two counts of promoting child abuse in the second degree, a class B felony. Each count is punishable by up to ten years in prison.
Patyjewicz had been charged with disseminating images of children being sexually exploited.
He was also charged with possessing images and videos of children being sexually exploited with 57 videos containing children being sexually abused, and 12 of those videos depicting children under the age of 12.
The investigation was conducted by the Hawai‘i Internet Crimes Against Children unit in the Attorney General’s office.

At sentencing today, the deputy attorney general asked Judge Kim to sentence Patyjewicz to the full ten year prison term.
