Volcano Overflight: More Lava Flows Going Down the Pali
“Active lava lake and more lava flows going down the Pali, ocean entry lava delta growing rapidly!” said Tropical Visions Video photographer and videographer Mick Kalber about Paradise Helicopters’ Friday, May 12, Kīlauea overflight.
“The Pu‘u ‘Ō‘ō vent was accessible with Pele’s lava lake spattering vigorously,” added Kalber.
The 61g surface flows are still creeping over the Pali but have yet to reach the steeper part of the down slope.
Pele’s molten lava continues to pour into the ocean at Kamokuna, plenty lava rivulets are now rapidly rebuilding the bench.
Kalber and the crew saw no outbreaks at all on the coastal flats on Friday.
