On CNN’s The Situation Room with Wolf Blitzer on Friday, April 21, U.S. Sen. Brian Schatz (D-Hawai‘i) defended Hawai‘i and criticized U.S. Attorney General Jeff Sessions over his dismissive comments about Hawai‘i and U.S. District Judge Derrick Watson.

On a conservative talk radio program, Attorney General Sessions said, “I really am amazed that a judge sitting on an island in the Pacific can issue an order that stops the president of the United States from what appears to be clearly his statutory and constitutional power.”

“Jeff Sessions doesn’t get it,” said Sen. Schatz. “This is an insult to the people of the State of Hawai‘i. Hawai‘i is one of the best places in the world. We are proud of who we are and what we contribute to the country.”
