Maria “Tita” Tailon
November 2, 1941 – April 17, 2017

Maria “Tita” Tailon, 75, of Naalehu, was born in South Kona on Nov. 2, 1941, and passed away on April 17, 2017 in Kealakekua. Maria worked as teacher’s assistant, childcare provider, and a homemaker.

Memorial Services will be held on Saturday April 29, at Naalehu Sacred Heart Catholic Church. Visitation 8 – 10 a.m. Mass service at 10 a.m. burial at a later date.

She is survived by sons; Marino Tailon and Felix Tailon both of Naalehu, daughters; Felicia (Mac) Mason and Della (Willy) Kaluna both of Naalehu, Monica Tailon of Honolulu and hanai daughter Tiare (Nir) Tapu Shalev of Tahiti.

Brothers; Henry (Stalma) Makuakane and Paul (Nona) Makuakane both of Naalehu. Sisters; Lucy Makuakane of Pahala, Annabelle “Cha” (Randy) Galigo and Pammy (Randy) Dudoit both of Naalehu.

Judith Peralto Maldonado, 74, of Hilo, passed away on April 16, 2017. Judith was born on March 28, 1943, in Hilo. She was a homemaker.

She is survived by her daughter; Keola Kristi Anne Maldonado, brother; Joel Peralto,sister Donna Peralto Tamasese, six grandchildren, seven great grandchildren, numerous uncles, aunts, nieces, nephews and cousins and pre-deceased son; David Brain Maldonado and daughter; Kelly Lee Maldonado.

September 20, 1952 – April 15, 2017

Allison (Ali) Ray, 64, of Volcano, passed away on April 15, 2017. Ali was born on Sept. 20, 1952, in Ramona, CA.

She served in the Army as a General Supply Specialist and received a National Defense Service Medal. She was a self-employed Landscaper, and is survived by her brothers, sisters, nephews, nieces and a grand-niece, as well as her loyal dog and cat.

Elmer Yoneda, 76, of Kohala, passed away on April 13, 2017. Elmer was born on Dec. 25, 1940 in Kohala. Service to be held on April 29, 2017 at Ballard Family Mortuary Hilo (570 Kinoole St. Hilo, HI 96720) Visitation: 10 a.m. Service: 11 a.m.

Gabrielle Nohea Elsielina Rodrigues, 26, of Kailua-Kona, was born in Kealakekua on Dec. 12, 1990, and passed away on April 3, 2017 in Kealakekua. Gabrielle worked as a receptionist at Aliʻi Health Center. She also worked at Clinical labs of Hawaiʻi, Santad Sira Inc., Officemax, Ohana Keiki Preschool, Pine Tree Cafe and Kay’s Kitchen.

She is survived by spouse Ryson; son Kaiho’omalu Rodrigues; daughters Kailana Rodrigues and Kaimalie Rodrigues of Kailua-Kona; parents Jadelyn and Fred Ng of Kailua-Kona; brother Jared Ng of Kailua-Kona; sister Belle Ng of Kailua-Kona; maternal grandmother Evelyn Lewi of Kailua-Kona; paternal grandfather Francis Ng Sr. of Capt. Cook, Hawaiʻi; and numerous other loved ones.

Memorial Services will be held at Ohana Keiki Preschool on April 29, 2017 at 8 a.m.

Theresa P. Texeira

Theresa P. Texeira
July 19, 1934 – April 19, 2017

Theresa P. Texeira, 82, of Makawao, Maui, peacefully passed away on April 19, 2017, at Maui Memorial Medical Center. She was born on July 19, 1934, in New Brunswick, New Jersey.

She married her true love, Mr. Nicholas Texeira and together they raised four children. She leaves to cherish her memory, her loving husband Nicholas S. Texeira of 58 years; her children, Bessie H. Barnes, Patricia Texeira-Sales, Maryanne Texeira, Nicholas F. Texeira; 5 grandchildren; 3 great grandchildren; and many loving extended family.

Services honoring Theresa P. Texeira will be held at St. Joseph Church in Makawao on April 26, 2017. Visitation will begin at 9 a.m.; memorial services starts at 10 a.m.; burial will follow, 11 a.m. at the Maui Veteran’s Cemetery in Makawao. Aloha attire is requested.

The family would like to express their deepest gratitude to Maui Memorial Medical Center, ICU Unit, doctors & nurses, the Ballard & Norman’s Mortuary staff, the Maui Police Department, Makawao Fire Department, Makawao AMR and family and friends for their prayers and support during this difficult time.

John “Jack” Spock Jr.
June 24, 1941 – April 18, 2017

The family of Jack Spock would like to thank everyone for their aloha and support: nurses, doctors, nurse aides, Baha’i community, friends, coworkers, and neighbors lovingly cared for him over the past month, before he passed peacefully in the afternoon of April 18, at his home in Kokomo surrounded by family. He will be laid to rest at Veteran’s Cemetery in Makawao in a private graveside service.

John was born in Manville, New Jersey, moved to Hawaiʻi in 1963, and lived a life of service as a teacher in Hawaiʻi and Saipan, and at Job Corps Maui. His dedication to the Baha’i Faith and its vision of the Oneness of Mankind guided him throughout his life.

His celebration of life will be held on April 29, 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Makawao Baha’i Center, 3574 Kekahi Place.

Ofa Ki-Suva Falekaono, 69, of Kīhei, passed away on April 13, 2017, at Hale Makua Kahului. She was born on July 23, 1947, in Ma’ufanga, Tonga.

Visitation will be held from 8 to 11 a.m. on Friday, April 28, 2017, at St. Theresa Catholic Church; mass will begin at 11 a.m.; burial will follow, 12:30 p.m., at Maui Memorial Park Cemetery, Garden of Meditation.

Ofa was predeceased by her husband, Sosaia’atu Falekaono; son, Mateo Falekaono; brother, Siua; sisters, Vaimoana, Kaneisi, Sinai and Siale; and great grandchild, Salome Lolohea. She is survived by her son, Paeailoma (Alakoka) Falekaono; daughters, Hikule’o (Sione – deceased) Katoa, Katalina (Loni) Toluta’u, Molini (Feleti) Kaloni; brother, Fanitesi; sisters, Vika, Mele; grandchildren, Momoa Palepale, Fuamalini Lolohea, Suva, Loni & Angeline Katoa, Atu, Elijah, Ofahelotu & Katalina Falekaono; and great grandchild, Fuamalini Jr. Lohohea.

Angeline “Aunty Lani” Leilani Levi, 92, of Lahaina, passed away on March 31, 2017,
at her Lahaina home with family by her side. She was born on Oct. 22, 1924, in
Keomoku, Lānaʻi.

A celebration of her life will be held on Saturday, May 6, 2017, at Norman’s Mortuary in Wailuku. Visitation will begin at 9 a.m.; service starts at 11 a.m.; burial will follow, 12:30 p.m., at Maui Memorial Park Cemetery in Wailuku.

“Aunty Lani” was predeceased by her husband, David Levi; parents, Pili & Mileka Kahoʻohalahala; and siblings, Malia (Charles) Poaipuni and George (Betty) Kahoʻohalahala Sr. She is survived by brother, Francis (Sandra) Kahoʻohalahala and numerous nieces & nephews.
