High Surf Warning: West shores of Big Island through 6 a.m. Friday then replaced by a High Surf Advisory.

Small Craft Advisory: All northeast waters and channels through 6 p.m. Friday.

Gale Watch: In effect from Saturday afternoon through Sunday afternoon.

Special Weather Statement: Very windy conditions are expected this weekend. These winds will be especially gusty at higher elevations and through mountain gaps and downsloping areas. If you have outdoor activities planned, you may want to postpone them or reconsider your plans.

Looking Ahead

Winds are transitioning to light and variables Friday as a front approaches from the northwest. This front is forecast to move across most of the state over the weekend before stalling near the Big Island early next week. An increase in showers is forecast to accompany passage of the front. Behind it, very strong trade winds are forecast for the state this weekend.

Today

We have variable winds today from 5 to 15 mph with high temperatures from 79° to 84°. Partly cloudy skies are forecast for windward and mauka spots with scattered morning showers and party cloudy skies and isolated showers in the afternoon. Mostly sunny skies for the Kona side with some clouds building in the afternoon.

Tonight 

Variable winds 5 to 15 mph tonight and transitioning to breezy trades from 15 to 20 mph with higher gusts late Friday night. Scattered windward showers with clearing skies for the leeward side. Low temperatures from 67° to 72°.
