Kapono Nāʻiliʻili Releases Debut Album
Kapono Nāʻiliʻili, is kicking off the New Year with the debut of his contemporary fusion album, “In Transition,” available today, Dec. 31 on all online streaming services.
This is Nāʻiliʻili’s first solo project since departing as half of the super duo, HAPA.
His new album features 10 songs (nine of them are original compositions) and features artists including Will Yokoyama, Joshua Kaye, and Mark Lindberg.
Nāʻiliʻili said, “I’ve poured myself into the different songs and styles that make up ‘In Transition.’ I guess you could say that these were the melodies moving around in my head during the experiences of my own life transition.”
Supporting Nāʻiliʻili’s new vision is Imua Garza, one of Hawai‘i’s most popular music producers. Garza added, “Working beside Kapono is a dream come true. He knows what he wants and is exact about the detail, sound, outcome, and his passion really shines through. It was truly a pleasure.”
Nāʻiliʻili is a strong supporter of local talent and enlisted the help of Haley Kailiehu from Hawai‘i Island who created the vibrant cover art for the album.
Nāʻiliʻili continued, “Will Yokoyama and I sat down with Haley to share our ideas about the album. She then developed a concept that incorporated different forms of transition that represent the plight to perpetuate artistry through music.” Physical copies of “In Transition” will be available for purchase in January through the http://www.knwmusic.com website.
