Fire Destroys Kurtistown Home

The Hawai‘i County Fire Department responded to a structure fire on Tuesday, Dec. 13, at 174437 South Road, in Kurtistown, Kea‘au District.

Fire department personnel arrived at the scene of a single-story, 1,200-square-foot, unoccupied residence fully engulfed in flames at 5:11 p.m.

The fire was extinguished at 7:33 p.m.

The loss was estimated at $120,000.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
