HFD Continues to Battle Kaʻū Brushfires

The Hawai‘i Fire Department arrived at Ninole Loop Road and Highway 11 in the Punalu‘u area of Kaʻū.at 9:08 a.m., Thursday, Dec. 1, 2016, to battle an ongoing brushfire.

The brushfire is contained.

Currently, 12 HFD personnel are working to extinguish the fire.

In Kaʻū, there were three  brushfires within a 17-hour period on Nov. 30, 2016 and Dec. 1.

All of the brushfires were along the roadside: Kamaoa Road, Kaalaiki Road and Highway 11.

The causes are under investigation.
