Daylight Mind Celebrates Kona Coffee Festival

daylight mindDaylight Mind Coffee Company will offer several special coffee-related events at its Waterfront Row location in Kailua-Kona during the 2016 Kona Coffee Cultural Festival.

The events will focus on the experience of coffee, coffee education and coffee-food pairing.

Beginning on Sunday, Nov. 6, Daylight Mind will host three educational events, each lasting about one hour.

At 10 a.m., Daylight Mind will host a seminar and tasting that will explore coffee roast level and cup quality.

At noon, there will be a Kona coffee farmer panel and discussion.

At 2 p.m., Dr. Shawn Steiman will lead a seminar and discussion about 10% Kona blends.

A festival button is required for admission.

Daylight Mind regularly offers open cupping sessions in their Waterfront Row location on Thursdays at 11 a.m.

Cupping is the formal evaluation method used to assess coffee quality. During the coffee festival, the company will also host additional cuppings for the public on Monday, Nov. 7, at 11 a.m.; and Friday, Nov. 11, at 11 a.m. Admission is $15.

On Saturday, Nov. 12, Daylight Mind will host The Baker and The Barista, from 8 to 11 a.m. This fundraiser for Habitat for Humanity–West Hawai‘i will feature a pastry and coffee pairing. Dr. Shawn Steiman will offer insights into Kona as a coffee-producing region. Admission is $35.
