Hawaiʻi Island police are renewing their request for information about a two-vehicle traffic accident that occurred on Sept. 3, 2016, on the Hawai‘i Belt Road (Route 11) just south of the Kamehameha III Highway intersection.

During the investigation, police learned that a green Subaru or Isuzu SUV may have caused the victim, Breanna Fujimoto, to cross the centerline of the roadway just prior to the head-on collision with a 2015 Nissan SUV.

Due to this new information, police have reclassified this traffic fatality from a coroner’s inquest investigation to a negligent homicide investigation.
